2015 Seminary Appeal

I Support!!!

Dear and beloved benefactors of St. Sophia Seminary,

As every year at this time, I turn to you in the name of His Eminence Metropolitan ANTONY, His Grace Bishop DANIEL, the Board of Trustees, administration and faculty of our seminary, to solicit your generous prayerful and charitable support for the new upcoming academic year 2015-2016. Your support is crucial, St. Sophia Seminary relies almost exclusively on your donations

Once again, the Lord of the Harvest has blessed us with men whom He has called to serve our Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the U.S.A. These men come from all walks of life both here in the United States of America and Ukraine. We have diligently assembled a faculty and staff of dedicated educators to offer the finest in theological, spiritual, and pastoral training to ensure the future wellbeing of the Church in the person of fine spiritual leaders and fathers of our holy flock.

We have diversified our curriculum to best accommodate the students’ needs to explore their calling. The enrollment for this academic year has been quite good. The seminary student body for the upcoming academic year is composed of:

Six students in the three-year Short Term Residency: Protodn. Ihor Mahlay, Dn. John Charest, Dn. Paul Cherkas, Dn. Michael Abramson, Aleksey Dobiuk, and David Murphy

Seven students in the three-year Distance Learning Programme: Clint Kifolo, Cliff O'Neil, Paul Neal, Victor Polatajev, Aleksey Dobiuk, Christopher Encapera, and Christopher Burgan

Twelve students in Full-Time Residency: Taras Kaluzhnyy, Ivan Chopko, Tadei Shurak, Ihor Protsak, Volodymyr Yavorskyi, Yurii Bobko, Mykola Zomchak, Mykhailo Bokalo, Vladislav Huk, Ivan Hlukhaniuk, and Hryhorii Matviiv

It bears to emphasize that this is the largest enrollment the Seminary has enjoyed in decades.

May the Good Lord continue to bless us for many more years! Therefore, we humbly that you consider making a gift to sustain the educational aspirations of these students. When making a contribution of $50.00, $100.00 or $200.00, please enter the names of loved ones (living and deceased) who will then be commemorated at each Divine Liturgy celebrated in the seminary chapel of the Three Holy Hierarchs throughout the year.

With sincere gratitude in your benevolence, I remain yours in Christ,
V. Rev. Bazyl Zawierucha

Provost, Academic Dean and Associate Professor of Church History
